I took this picture while waiting for the 6:15PM bus to work last night (03/17/08). My apartment building is about a block up on the left. There are tons of crazy bicyclists here, powering up the steep hills,in the rain, no less. At one point I had this theory that there was actually just one single, rail-thin guy in a bright yellow jacket and black spandex tights who was paid to spend all day, every day
biking around the place, providing fodder for tourist photos, and making the rest of us feel like a bunch of losers. Or, maybe they cloned him, or something, because it always looked like the same guy. Well, I guess this picture is proof, unfortunately, that my theory was wrong. I prefer to think of it not so much as "wrong" as merely needing some revision. Like, maybe this guy is a decoy, so we don't catch
on to the top-secret, Dr. Evil bicyclist cloning experiement. Ha! I defy you to disprove that one!
I took this picture this morning (03/18/08), after getting out of work. This is sort of the neighborhood anomaly - a little bit of Times Square, circa 1975 (i.e., before they cleaned up the XXX rated movie theaters and turned it into a tourist trap), plopped down in the middle of some of the most expensive, tony real estate in Seattle. It's about 2 blocks up from where I took the previous picture, near the shiny, glass skyscrapers. I enjoy the ever-changing selection of horrible puns on their sign.
